چکیده

Monosulcate pollen grains are an important component of the Mesozoic palynofloras around world. These type produced by several groups plants and because morphological similarities among them, their taxonomic determination is difficult. Currently, there scarce information about differences monosulcate this makes botanical affinity in fossil specimens challenging. In work, we analyzed statistically features recovered from six palynological assemblages Lower Cretaceous Lagarcito Formation central-western Argentina. We used our own dataset data description published cycadalean situ male cones Patagonia. Furthermore, variables selected living species were added to support analysis. According results, two main with clear characterized fossils. The use extant allowed us exine sculpture as variable when characterizing grains. Finally, showed in-situ cone Androstrobus munku patagonicus. This work first attempt identify different types Our results will contribute elucidate variations may improve future studies.

Tiny pollen grains: first evidence of Saururaceae from the Late Cretaceous of western North America

BACKGROUND The Saururaceae, a very small family of Piperales comprising only six species in four genera, have a relatively scanty fossil record outside of Europe. The phylogenetic relationships of the four genera to each other are resolved, with the type genus Saururus occurring in both eastern North America and East Asia. No extant species occurs in western Eurasia. The most exceptional find s...

Variation of microsporogenesis in monocots producing monosulcate pollen grains.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS Microsporogenesis leading to monosulcate pollen grains has already been described for a wide range of monocot species. However, a detailed study of additional callose deposition after the completion of the cleavage walls has been neglected so far. The study of additional callose deposition in monosulcate pollen grain has gained importance since a correlation between addition...

A Ceratopsian Dinosaur from the Lower Cretaceous of Western North America, and the Biogeography of Neoceratopsia

The fossil record for neoceratopsian (horned) dinosaurs in the Lower Cretaceous of North America primarily comprises isolated teeth and postcrania of limited taxonomic resolution, hampering previous efforts to reconstruct the early evolution of this group in North America. An associated cranium and lower jaw from the Cloverly Formation (?middle-late Albian, between 104 and 109 million years old...
